The County Monaghan Heritage Office today launched the first in a new County Heritage Series publication entitled “Monaghan’s Wonderful Wetland” in the perfect setting - the Ballybay Wetlands Centre in Co. Monaghan. The publication was jointly funded by The Heritage Council and Monaghan County Council.
I was delighted to have been part of this project, which celebrates the natural and cultural value of our wild wetlands, and the fascinating wetlands that occur in County Monaghan. The book is fully illustrated throughout, and contains information on wetland habitats and species, their cultural importance, information on wetland place-names and where to visit wetlands in County Monaghan.
An online story map detailing wetlands to visit in Monaghan, which accompanies the book, can be viewed at: http://bit.ly/MonaghanWetlands
The book is available from Easons and other bookshops in Monaghan, or from the Heritage Office, Monaghan County Council, cost 6 Euo.
