Petrifying Spring survey of Ballyman Glen SAC

In December 2016 I undertook survey of the petrifying spring at Ballyman Glen SAC on the Dublin and Wicklow border. The images below show some of the tufa spring habitats within the SAC.

Tufa deposits on organic matter at Ballyman Glen.

Tufa spring on the sloped valley side at Ballyman Glen with Equisetum telmateia.

Tufa deposits with Aneura pinguis on the stream running through Ballyman Glen.

Tufa deposits with Aneura pinguis on the stream running through Ballyman Glen. 

Tufa deposits with Conocephalum conicum on the stream running through Ballyman Glen. 

Ballyman 6

Tufa deposits forming low ridges on the sloping springs areas at Ballyman Glen, and dominated by Palustriella commutata.
