Wetland Data Sets Incorporated into the Map of Irish Wetlands

In addition to wetland sites reported by individuals, the Map of Irish Wetlands has incorprated wetland sites listed in the following larger data sets and publications. The wetlands include those previously reported from published sources (mainly SAC, SPA, NHA, ASI etc.) and previously unknown potential wetland sites identified through the examination of aerial photography in conjunction with subsoil data and other GIS data sets.

In addition where county wetland surveys have been undertaken by Wetland Surveys Ireland (marked with * above and bolded) numerous additional data sources in those counties have been consulted and wetland sites recorded. These data sources are listed in the appropriate survey reports.
